Trekking – Ojo del Albino Glacier
Activity description
This is one of the most remarkable trekking circuits, combining the beauty of Esmeralda Lagoon with the Ojo del Albino Glacier. To begin our excursion, we will pick you up from your accommodation and take National Route No. 3 to the trailhead, about 20 km from the city. From there, the trail leads us to the lagoon through peat bogs and centuries-old lenga and coihue forests.
After a stop to admire the frozen lagoon, we will continue our journey beyond the tree line into the most demanding part of the hike: the ascent toward the glacier. From this point, we will enjoy a unique view of the Tierra Mayor Valley and the lagoon itself.
We will arrive at the glacier, a massive and highly crevassed ice formation, where we can observe its peaks and meltwater with floating ice blocks in the center. Here we will enjoy our box lunch while resting in a breathtaking landscape, before beginning the return hike to the vehicle and back to your accommodation.
